Jo Ivester is an LGBTQ and civil rights advocate, sharing her family’s story as a way of helping others to step beyond their comfort zones when it comes to relating to those who are different from themselves.

In the last few years, she has broadened her focus to raise awareness about the transgender community. Inspired by her transgender son, she wrote her second book, Never a Girl, Always a Boy (She Writes Press, April 2020). Through this and community and school talks, she shares the story of what it was like for Jeremy to grow up in a world not quite ready for people like him.
