L’shanah Tovah!  We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones well.

We are so excited to announce that we are transitioning to a new machzor, the new High Holy Day prayer book, of the Reform Movement, entitled “Mishkan Ha’Nefesh,” “the dwelling place (or sanctuary) of the soul.”   There are many reasons we determined that now was the right time to move to this new prayer book.  While “Gates of Repentance” has served us well, “Mishkan Ha’Nefesh” has a more modern feel, as it juxtaposes the ancient words of our liturgy with insights from contemporary theologians, philosophers, and poets. Additionally, it is a more inclusive prayer book, as it does not contain gendered language when referring to God. It is a beautiful, inspirational, spiritual guide which will engage, inspire, and even challenge us in our worship.  This machzor comes in a set of two books, one for Rosh Hashanah and the other Yom Kippur and will be a welcome addition to our High Holy Day services.

As we prepare for our High Holy Days, we are asking each congregant and/or family unit to purchase one set of these beautiful sets of books as a donation to our Temple. Anyone is welcome to purchase more than one set in the event that some of our families are not able to make the donation this year. Each set costs $36 and is available for purchase on the temple website.

This new year, let us reflect on the benefits change can have in our lives and open ourselves up to the possibility of creating a more meaningful, spiritually uplifting. worship experience together. May this new machzor help re-energize our prayer experience, guiding us in our efforts to reconnect with God and each other.

Each set of Mishkan HaNefesh costs $36.00
