Join the Belcher Road Interfaith Collective and many others as we build on the Legacy of Temple B’nai Israel’s Shelia Weinstock Mitzvah Day. We gather at different venues on the afternoon of January 18th to engage in projects to make an impact on our community and our planet. These projects for all ages and skills, including creating snack packs, hygiene packs, hospital visiting bags, no sew blankets for foster kids, a garden planting project, and a community clean-up. There’s an optional noon lunch gathering at Temple B’nai Israel and then each location will open at 1:00 PM for acts of caring and kindness.

TBI Brotherhood will be preparing a dairy-style lunch for the event. All participants are welcome to come to TBI for lunch. A donation of $10 per person is suggested to cover the cost of this meal.

St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church - "Totes of Hope" Supplies
This project involves collecting and sorting warm weather supplies for the unhoused or under-resourced clients of Gulf Coast JFCS CALL and HUB behavioral health programs.

Temple B'nai Israel - No Sew Blankets & Hospital Bags
This project involves cutting and tying the edges of fabric to create soft blankets as well as creating bags of items that would be helpful for people who are in the hospital. View Amazon Wishlist for Hospital Bag supplies.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Hygiene Bags
This project involves creating bags filled with hygiene products for those who are unhoused or in need throughout our community.

Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater - Recycling Wrapping Paper
This project involves turning recycled gift paper into planting pots at the UUC's Food Forest. Collected paper and gift boxes will be used to make molded fiber pots that will be donated to the children at the Martin Luther King Community Garden in Clearwater. This project is organized by the non-profit, Building My Veggie Garden.

Keep Pinellas Beautiful - Clearwater Memorial Causeway Cleanup
This project involves doing trail and shoreline cleanup along the Clearwater Memorial Causeway. Supplies, including t-shirts and sunscreen, will be provided by Keep Pinellas Beautiful. Project participants will meet at Temple B'nai Israel at 12:45 PM and will carpool over to the causeway.

Congregation Beth Shalom - "Fill the Bucket" Cleaning Supply Drive
This project involves creating buckets full of cleaning supplies for those who are moving into new residences or readying to spring clean and have limited financial means. This is a brand-new initiative under the Gulf Coast JFCS William and Sally Israel Food Pantry. Click here for more info about this project.

Unity Church of Clearwater - Toys for Shelter Pets
This project involves creating toys for shelter pets using donated fabric, t-shirts, and plastic bottles which will be distributed to shelter pets throughout Florida via Project Canis. This project will take place at Temple B'nai Israel.
